Middleton, Mass. - The Adelphi University men's tennis team was handed a 7-2 defeat in the penultimate match of the regular season on Wednesday afternoon, falling to Merrimack College indoors at the Northeast Tennis Center.
In a match in which singles was played first, Adelphi (4-9, 4-4 NE10) managed just two victories at the six flights, and first-place Merrimack (13-7, 8-0 NE10) won all three doubles matches to secure victory. Adelphi's No.1
Matteo Cannavera handed Mikhail Belov his first loss to an NE10 opponent in singles on the season with a 7-6( 3), 6-4 victory, while freshman
Luke Attride-Stirling surrendered just one game in his singles win at the fifth flight.
The Panthers close out the regular season on the road on Saturday afternoon, taking on Bentley in a 12 p.m. NE10 match.
