Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University women's tennis team won its first match played since winning the Northeast-10 Conference Championship in October on Sunday afternoon, edging the Pioneers of LIU Post, 5-4.
Despite being a player down and needing to forfeit at No.3 doubles and No.6 singles, Adelphi (15-1) won both doubles matches and clinched victory with thee singles wins.
Vanja Savic and
Samantha Perri combined for three bagels in four sets in singles play to put the Panthers ahead of the Pioneers by a score of 4-1 in the match overall, and
Nicole Kielan's 6-1, 6-4 victory at No.2 singles - her first match at the flight - clinched the win for the Brown and Gold overall.
The Panthers, who ranked fourth in the last edition of the NCAA Division II regional rankings, will find out their seeding in the NCAA tournament later this month.
