Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

#1 Women's Lacrosse Scores 19 in Victory Over Stonehill

North Easton, Mass. - With the help of eight caused turnovers from senior captain Kaitlyn Stackpole, the no. 1 Adelphi University women's lacrosse team rolled to their 13th straight victory Saturday afternoon over Stonehill College.

Adelphi (13-1, 12-0 NE10) got things rolling early as they took a 3-0 lead in the opening 10 minutes of action. A tally from Stonehill (5-7, 4-6 NE10) broke the silence at 19:14, but can be noted as their first and only goal of the half. Lena Riportella, who netted four goals of her own in the victory, sparked a six goal spurt through the remainder of the first frame, to give the Panthers a 9-1 advantage heading into the locker room.

Riportella was assisted on three separate occasions by Alison Johnson, who was responsible for three goals of her own while adding eight assists. At the 10:33 mark in the second half she played a part in four straight goals, assisting Riportella, Beth Ann Pierce and Kole Pollock, all to take a commanding 18-5 lead.

The Skyhawks gained momentum at the start of the second half, scoring the second goal of the period and then three straight to extend their count to five. Emma Lemanski earned the win and collected five saves despite allowing five goals, as the home team's Bailey Grant finished with 11 saves in the loss.

Four different players for the Brown and Gold each won three draw controls, including Jillian Graziano who coupled her stat line with four ground balls and two points. Alison Stackpole was responsible for a hat trick in the win to accompany seven additional goal scorers on the afternoon.

The women's lacrosse program will remain on the road for their next contest, as they travel to Saint Anselm College on Saturday, April 21 for a 2:30 p.m. contest. Adelphi's final two games will be played at Motamed Field, including a top-10 matchup with #3 Le Moyne College on Wednesday, April 25. The game will be featured on the Division II Spring Showcase, which will be streamed live on ESPN3. Viewers can use the WatchESPN app to catch all the action.
