Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Pollock Nets Six, #2 Women's Lax Takes Down Saint Michael's 20-5

Garden City, N.Y. - With the help of 10 different goal-scorers, the #2 Adelphi University women's lacrosse team took a 20-5 decision from Saint Michael's College Saturday afternoon, winning their ninth straight contest.

The Panthers (9-1, 8-0 NE10) were led by sophomores Kole Pollock and Alison Johnson, who accounted for six goals and seven assists, respectively, the two connecting on three separate occasions.  Beth Ann Pierce and Alyssa Gillespie accounted for four draw controls apiece, as the team accounted for 14 caused turnovers on their opponents. The Purple Knights (0-7, 0-5 NE10) had two goals scored from Alex Vincent, as goalkeeper Alexis Bower was responsible for 10 saves.

Pollock and Christina Ferrara quickly got the hosts on the board as Saint Mike's got their first tally at 26:57 to break the silence. Three straight goals, capped with a shot from Jill Graziano put the Brown and Gold lead back out to four. Before the half was through, the Purple Knights managed two more goals, getting past Emma Lemanski, but Adelphi ran up their side of the board with enough goals to initiate running clock.

The first two goals of the second half came from Michele Scannell, who also picked up one assist and two draw controls in the win. Her man-up possession sparked a six goal spurt from the home team, who lead by 16 with under 13 on the clock to play in regulation. The visitor's managed two more goals before the contest was through, but not before Kateri Brooks netted her second of the season and Olivia Ressa closed the door with her career first at the 2:53 mark.

Adelphi led in all team stat categories, except saves - the Saint Michael's goalies combined for 12 saves in the loss.

The women's team is back in action on Tuesday, April 3 when they host Southern Connecticut State University at 6:00 p.m.
