Men's Lacrosse Ousts AIC in First NE10 Game, 21-2

Springfield, Mass. - An eruption of offense helped the no. 12 Adelphi men's lacrosse program pick up their first win in 2018, a 21-2 victory over American International College Saturday afternoon.

Fourteen different players scored in the Panthers (1-1, 1-0 NE10) defeat of the Yellow Jackets (1-3, 0-1 NE10), with a team-high six tallies from Nicolas Racalbuto. James Hall and Ian Kirby both finished with multi-goal games and five others recorded two-or-more points in the win. Mark Andrejack and Phillip Brady split time at the faceoff, the former going a perfect 12-12.

Racalbuto and Hall put up the opening goals in the first quarter, both off passes from Dylan Crossan. Crossan finished the game with seven points behind six assists and one goal. Angelo Caiazzo made his first collegiate appearance and scored his first goal in the Brown and Gold at 2:38 as the Panthers jumped out to a 6-0 lead after the first.

Adelphi tacked on another goal to open the second but American International broke the silence with an unassisted shot from Matt Deloria at 11:28. The next thirteen goals all came from the Panthers, which brought them all the way to a 19-goal advantage with five minutes to play in regulation.

Jack Roberts and Joe LaBarbera were responsible for the last two goals in the third, the first getting a pass from Crossan and the second Matt Byrne. Those two tallies, coupled with goals from Michael Paccione, Tyler O'Brien, and Jack Purdy all accounted for career-firsts and helped the Brown and Gold to a 21-2 final decision. AIC snuck one past Kevin Rice, who saw his first 20 career minutes in goal in the second half - he finished the game with three saves.

The men's team is back in action on Thursday, March 8 when they open up at home in a non-conference matchup with St. Thomas Aquinas College. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Motamed Field.
