Garden City, N.Y. - Led by
Allison Stackpole, the No. 2 Adelphi University women's lacrosse program saw nine players score in a 21-7 Northeast-10 victory over Franklin Pierce Wednesday afternoon.
In less than ideal conditions on a cold and windy afternoon, Stackpole put up a team-high four goals, finishing with six points as she added two helpers the Panthers (4-1, 3-0 NE10).
Leading the way in points was
Alison Johnson, who contributed nine behind three goals and six assists, as
Kole Pollock followed close behind with six points courtesy of three goals and assists.
Pollock and Johnson connected six different times in the first half, as the latter contributed on eight of the first 10 goals from the Brown and Gold. After jumping out to a 6-0 advantage 15 minutes into the opening frame, Briana Sweeney netted the Ravens (2-1, 0-1 NE10) first goal to break the silence. Caitlin Sweeney put Franklin Pierce's second goal past
Emma Lemanski nearly five minutes later to cut into the home team lead.
Caitlin Sweeney finished with a hat trick for the visitors, as three other teammates collected goals on behalf of the Ravens.
Alyssa Gillespie tallied the final two goals in the first, each with a helper from
Michele Scannell and
Christina Ferrara, respectively, leaving FPU trailing by eight at the break.
After Caitlin Sweeney notched the first of the second frame,
Lena Riportella put in back-to-back shots to extend the lead as the 3-0 run was capped with a Scannell free-position shot to force running time.
Allison Stackpole quickly ran up the score with the next three goals to make it an 18-5 contest with under 15 minutes left to play. At the 7:27 mark,
Megan Keener scored her first career goal on an unassisted shot bookmarked by two contributions from
Chelsea Abreu.
The Ravens got in the final word on a free position tally from Caroline Lounsbury, but the deficit was too great to overcome as the Panthers handed them their first loss of the 2018 campaign.
Emma Lemanski picked up her second career win, earning her first career start in Wednesday's contest, finishing with seven saves.
The team is back in action with a quick turnaround as they host Southern New Hampshire on Saturday, March 17. The women precede the men's team in an NE10 double-dip, starting at noon on Motamed Field.
