Men's Hoops Slips at Le Moyne, 83-74

Syracuse, N.Y. - Even behind another team-leading effort by Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week Ronnie Silva, the Adelphi University men's basketball team dropped their second consecutive contest in league action Tuesday evening at Le Moyne, 83-74.

Silva dropped 15 points and led three other double-digit scorers as Dwaine Williams and Dejavaughn Utley both chipped in 13 and Nick Cambio rounded out the group with 10. Le Moyne (3-1, 2-1 NE10) also saw four players reach double-figure scoring with Kobi Nwandu leading the way with 21.

The Panthers (3-2, 1-2 NE10) were out-scored by the Dolphins 48-36 in the second frame, despite holding a three-point advantage at the half.

Adelphi used nine unanswered points in the final two minutes to hold the upper hand in the locker room, with the help of 10 first-half points from Utley. The Dolphins' Time Leavell scored all 17 of his points off the bench in the opening 20 minutes, but still the home team trailed by three at halftime.

Nine of 17 combined shooting from the field courtesy of Nwandu and Malik Garner bolstered the hosts side of the scoreboard, as a 16-4 run for Le Moyne pushed them out to a lead to start the second frame. Tallies from Austin Beech, Williams and Silva cut into the deficit that Adelphi faced to make the Dolphin lead reach single digits, but every time momentum seemed to shift in favor of the Panthers, the home team scored a stretch of points to keep their opponent at bay.

The team will break for the Thanksgiving holiday, but return to their home court on Sunday, November 25 for a non-conference matchup with Felician University at 2:00 p.m.
