Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Thanksgiving Break Puts Men's Basketball Back on Track

Garden City, N.Y. - Using a short break surrounding the Thanksgiving holiday, the Adelphi University men's basketball team got back on track with a 97-91 non-conference victory over Felician University Sunday afternoon.

Oswald Parker III led the scoring for Adelphi (4-2) this afternoon, dropping a game-high and career-best 26 points with the help of 10-15 shooting from the field. Four other members also reached double-figure points split amongst all but one starter. Co-CACC Defensive Player of the Week, Rahsaan Williams posted a team-high 24 points and added five blocks to his stat line, as Rachid Shimou followed suit with 23 points of his own.

Felician reached their highest margin five minutes into the opening half, when a layup by Williams gave the visitors an eight-point lead. A 15-5 run, sparked by Nick Cambio, over the next three minutes quickly turned the tables as the home team took it's first lead of the contest. The Golden Falcons quickly cut into the deficit and even took back the advantage, but a fast break layup from Dwaine Williams allowed the Panthers to hold a one-point lead as they broke for the locker room.

A tight race in the opening minutes of the second frame, the Brown and Gold eventually pulled away with nine unanswered points that featured three pointers from both Conor McGuinness and Ronnie Silva. From that point on, Felician struggled to get back in the drivers' seat, as Adelphi pushed out to their largest lead of the non-league contest, when Jack Laffey drained a shot from beyond the arc to put the Falcons back by 11.

With under five to play the teams began to put on the pressure, however Adelphi posted a 6-8 performance at the charity stripe to ensure the victory.

Men's basketball returns to action on Wednesday, November 28 when they host non-conference opponent Goldey-Beacom at 7:30 p.m. Fans will be able to grab a 2018-19 schedule poster prior to tip-off.
