New Paltz, N.Y. - The Adelphi University swimming and diving team was back in the pool over the weekend, as it competed at SUNY New Paltz on Saturday afternoon.
Although Adelphi fell to the Hawks on both the men's and women's side, the Panthers saw 13 first place finishes across multiple events at the meet.
The women fell to the hosts 133-107, while the men were short 21 points at 120-99.
The Panthers claimed first place in three relay events, as the men's side began the race with a win in the 600-yard medley relay. The group of Zack Vreeland, Jack Wheeler, Brian Klotsche and Dylan Farrell finished in the top slot with a time of 6:09.42, while the group of Farrell, Eian Mckeon, Yuxuan Wang and Daniel Lee later touched the wall first in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
Vreeland (50-yard, 100-yard backstroke), Wheeler (50-yard, 100-yard breaststroke), Lee (50-yard butterfly) and Mckeon (100-yard butterfly, 200-yard IM) saw first-place finishes in their respective events in addition to the relay.
For the women, the relay squad of Natasha Rice, Ashley Danulevith, Jeshley Jimenez and Crystal Zhang claimed the top finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay, with a winning time of 1:44.09.
Theresa Mattei (200-yard IM), Rice (50-yard backstroke) and Zhang (200-yard freestyle) also clinched individual first-place finishes in their respective events.
The Brown and Gold will return to the lanes on Thursday against Queensborough Community College. The match will begin at 6 p.m. at the Woodruff Pool.
