#19 Women's Soccer Downed in Double OT at SNHU, 2-1

Manchester, N.H. - A second straight comeback wasn't on the cards for the 19th-ranked Adelphi University women's soccer team on Saturday afternoon, as the Panthers were upended by the Southern New Hampshire University Penmen in double overtime on the road, 2-1.

After rallying for a 2-2 draw after a 2-0 halftime deficit against Bridgeport on Tuesday, Adelphi (7-2-1, 6-2 NE10) trailed 1-0 at halftime in Saturday's affair before sophomore Alexsis Weiser scored her first goal of the season in the 53rd minute, blasting the ball from 30 yards out into the top right corner to equalize.

Despite getting out-shot 23-16 over the course of nearly 105 minutes minutes, Adelphi forced SNHU keeper Sarah Rose to make seven of her 10 saves after the first half, including two in the first overtime, but ultimately could not find the winning strike.

In the Panther net, rookie goalkeeper Krista Aliscio performed admirably, with the Hauppauge, N.Y. native called into action for her first career start in place of classmate Sarah Hofmeier, who picked up an injury against Bridgeport.

Aliscio made 10 saves, and turned aside two Penmen shots earlier in the second overtime, but ultimately surrendered the game-winning goal to SNHU's Sydney Carney in the 104th minute, after the latter buried her own rebound into the near post.

The Penmen (9-3, 7-2 NE10) led from the 14th minute on until Weiser's strike, as Miranda Peloquin scored inside the left post off Aliscio's hand in the opening half.

Adelphi is back in action on Wednesday evening, as it looks to pick up a road win at the University of New Haven. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m.
