Women's Soccer Tripped Up at Saint Rose, 2-1

Albany, N.Y. - Undone by two first-half goals, the Adelphi University women's soccer team dropped a key 2-1 Northeast-10 Conference decision at the College of Saint Rose on Tuesday night.

Julianne Johnston made it 1-0 in the 14th minute for the home team, as she beat Krista Aliscio in the lower right corner from 12 yards out for the first score. The senior was then involved in the Golden Knights' (10-3-2, 8-3-1 NE10) second goal, redirecting a free kick to rookie Kaelyn Britt at the 24:33 mark to make the lead 2-0.

The Panthers' lone goal for the game came off the foot of Alexsis Weiser in the second half, as she scored off a pass from Savannah Taylor which went off the hands of Saint Rose keeper Marika Laurendeau.

With just three games left for the Brown and Gold (8-4-1, 7-4-0 NE10) in the regular season after Tuesday's match, the two teams were only a point apart in the conference standings coming into the nice.

Evenly matched for 90 minutes, both teams took 15 shots and six on goal, but the Panthers held a 4-0 advantage in looks at the net in the final 19 minutes as they looked to tally the equalizer. Kerianne Scorce was denied by Laurendeau in the 76th minute, as the latter made a low, diving stop to her right to turn aside the Panthers' best chance late.

The Panthers are back in action on Saturday, as they head up to Rindge, N.H. for a meeting with first-place Franklin Pierce.
