Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

#24 Men's Soccer Blanks SCSU, 1-0

Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University men's soccer team celebrated its return to the Division II national rankings with a sixth straight win on Wednesday night, blanking the Owls of Southern Connecticut State University in Northeast-10 Conference action, 1-0.

The Panthers checked in at #24 in the nation in this week's United Soccer Coaches Division II national poll on Tuesday, marking the first appearance for the program in the Top 25 since checking in at #13 in August's preseason poll.

Taylor Kaczynski's fifth goal of the season led the Brown and Gold (9-2-1, 7-1 NE10) to a seventh win in eight league games so far this season, as the junior broke a scoreless tie off a long, chipped pass from Patrick Guier in the midfield in the 75th minute of Wednesday's contest.

Matt Apicella kept the Owls (7-5, 4-4 NE10) off the board with seven saves for his fifth shutout of the season and Adelphi out-shot Southern Connecticut overall, 14-11.

After a pair of home shutouts, Adelphi will look to keep rolling on the road up next, as it first heads to Merrimack College in a battle of nationally-ranked NE10 teams on Saturday afternoon. The Warriors had been ranked as high as #6 in the national poll this season, but dropped out after a loss to unranked Bentley on Sept. 19.

Kick-off from North Andover, Mass. is set for 4 p.m.
