Offense Shines As #12 Women's Soccer Wins 7-1 At Merrimack

North Andover, Mass. - Equaling splitting 28 shots between two halves, the 12th ranked Adelphi University women's soccer team managed to score seven goals on those attempts to upend host Merrimack 7-1 during Northeast-10 Conference play this evening.

The Brown and Gold (7-1/4-1 NE-10) needed less than two minutes to strike for the first goal of the night as Nicole Forte found Morgan Santoro for her NE-10 leading 10th goal of the season with 1:48 expired on the clock. The senior added another tally during the 15th minute as Victoria Antonino picked up the assist to put Adelphi ahead 2-0.

Santoro was involved in the third and final goal of the first half, assisting on a strike from Jeanine Nunez during the 41st minute. Controlling the 3-0 halftime margin, the Panthers also earned a 14-6 shot advantage while the Warriors (3-3-2/1-2-2 NE-10) led in corner kicks 3-2. Molly Meehan stopped seven shots for Merrimack while Anne Marie Ulliac made all four of her saves of the evening in the opening 45 minutes.

Antonino pushed the lead to 4-0 early in the second half, as Nunez added an assist to her goal during the 51st minute. Looking to cut into the lead, Merrimack got on the board during the 59th minute as Jorgi Adee scored on an assist from Victoria Carter.

Following the Merrimack goal, the Panthers notched three more goals towards the final margin. Erica Bleimeyer recorded her first goal of the season during the 72nd minute off a pass from Laura Gomez before Antonino registered her second tally of the night during the 76th minute. Sarah Barone Stern was credited with an assist in the 86th minute as Amanda Rainey posted her second goal of the year.

Adelphi ended the evening with a 28-9 shot advantage while both teams manufactored five corner kicks. Meehan totaled nine saves in 69 minutes of work for the Warriors before Kiernan Decker and Erin Fulton closed out the night.

The Brown and Gold continue competition on the road with a match at Bentley for an 11:00 am match in Waltham, Mass. for NE-10 action.

Notes:
- The Panthers increased their conference-leading goals-for-average to 4.13 per-game.
- Santoro (27 - 1st), Nunez (14 - 6th) and Antonino (11 - 7th) all ranked within the top-10 in points within the league.
