Waltham, Mass - Following a 1-1 tie in the early stages of the second half, the 12th ranked Adelphi University women's soccer team tallied four straight goals en route to a 5-1 victory at Northeast-10 Conference foe Bentley earlier today.
Jeanine Nunez pushed the Panthers (8-1/5-1 NE-10) ahead during first half with a goal in the 15th minute. Nunez finished into the far post after
Taylor Sipos played a ball in from the right wing to earn the assist. The strike stood as the lone goal of the opening 45 minutes, giving the Brown and Gold a 1-0 halftime advantage.
At the break, Adelphi controlled advantages in both shots, 11-3, and corner kicks, 5-0. Meanwhile, Deirdre Macrorie kept the Falcons (5-2-2/2-2-2 NE-10) within 1-0 at the half by making four saves in net.
The four saves from Macrorie proved to be beneficial as Bentley managed to even the score at 1-1 in the 56th minute. Ana Tantum finished from 12 yards out for her seventh tally of the season off a through ball from Alyssa Valente.
Throughout the final 34 minutes of action, Adelphi strung together four goals to take and extend the lead. Two minutes following the Tantum goal,
Victoria Antonino registered the go-ahead goal with a finish from five yards out off a cross from Nunez.
Later on,
Laura Gomez put back-to-back goals in during the 75th and 81st minutes.
Morgan Santoro assisted on the first with a right cross followed by Gomez going unassisted on her fifth goal of the season after winning a loose ball eight yards out. The pair of Santoro and Gomez came together again for the fifth point with Santoro notching her league leading 12 goal of the season off the Gomez pass.
Anne Marie Ulliac was credited with three assists in the second half to finish with four in the game. Adelphi completed the afternoon with an 18-8 shot advantage while adding one corner kick.
Adelphi returns home on Tuesday for the first of back-to-back home games, hosting Southern Connecticut on Motamed Field at 7:00 pm.

- Today marked the fourth time Adelphi has scored at least five goals in a game.
- Santoro's sits atop of the league's goal leaders by four with her 12th of the season today while also being ahead in points by 12 with 30 after today.
