Colchester, Vt. - The seventh ranked Adelphi University women's soccer team outshot host Saint Michael's 35-4 earlier this afternoon that helped produce a 5-1 victory on the road during Northeast-10 Conference play.
An early goal from
Morgan Santoro, her fourth of the season, helped the Brown and Gold (5-0/3-0 NE-10) create a 1-0 advantage during the eighth minute.
Taylor Sipos passed a through ball to the center of the field for the senior Santoro to finish in the bottom right of the net. However, the lead lasted just seven minutes as the Purple Knights (1-4/1-2 NE-10) drew even at 1-1 during the 15th minute. Alyssa Keeler took advantage of a give away outside of the Adelphi defensive box that she was able to place over
Anne Marie Ulliac.
With less than eight minutes until halftime, Adelphi started a stretch of four unanswered goals during the 38th minute as Sipos netted her third goal of the season into the right side of the net. Five minutes later, Santoro added her second tally of the afternoon into the lower left of the net off a pass from
Jeanine Nunez to help the visitors create a 3-1 halftime lead.
In the opening half, the Brown and Gold produced 18 shots that turned into the three goals while also forcing Megan LeCours to make three stops for Saint Michael's. Meanwhile, Ulliac allowed the one goal in addition to two saves on three Purple Knights' shots. The Panthers also procuded four corner kicks while yielding two.
The attack continued for Adelphi in the second half, resulting in a 4-1 lead during the 66th minute as
Victoria Antonino recorded her third goal of the year. From 25 yards out, the senior was able to make contact with the cross bar that forced the ball down and into the net. Nunez secured the final tally of the day during the 76th minute by cleaning up a fail clear from Saint Michael's with a loose ball finish for third of the campaign.
In the effort, Linday St. Pierre stopped eight shots for the Purple Knights after facing 17 shots in the second half. The Brown and Gold added five corner kicks in the final period to finish the game with nine while Ulliac ended her afternoon with three stops.
