#1 Women's Lacrosse Moves into Seventh Straight Northeast-10 Championship Game with 13-3 Win Over #4 New Haven

Garden City, N.Y. -- For the seventh straight year since joining the Northeast-10 Conference, the Adelphi University women's lacrosse team will play for an NE-10 Championship. The top-seeded Panthers (18-0, 13-0 NE-10) defeated the No. 4 seeds, the University of New Haven to kick off Championship Weekend on Motamed Field on Saturday afternoon, and will face No. 2 Le Moyne in Sunday's title game.

Kate Beier scored three of the first four goals of the game for Adelphi, as she and Rachel O'Brien combined for six tallies in the contest. NE-10 Player of the Year Jacqueline Jahelka scored twice and added an assist, as did Third Team All-Conference performer Emily Keesling to account for 10 of Adelphi's 13 goals, while Michele Scanell, Danielle Montano and Rachel Aitkens each found the back of the net once. On defense, Ryley Weber, Camillie Rosellini and Jen Graham each picked up four ground balls, while Rosellini won a team-high seven draw controls and Weber paced the Panthers with three caused turnovers. Taylor Hayes remained perfect on the season as she played all 60 minutes in net, making three saves on six shots faced.

Beier and Jahelka combined to give Adelphi a 4-0 lead over the first 15 minutes of the game, as Jahelka opened the scoring just 1:18 into the contests on a free-position opportunity. From there, Beier tallied three straight -- once off a pass from Jahelka, once unassisted and another on a free position, to open up the four-goal margin. The Chargers got on the board with 8:56 remaining in the first half off the stick of Jessica Mazliah, but Keesling and O'Brien made it a 6-1 game shortly after.

The Chargers got the last goal of the opening half on a man-up opportunity, and scored first on a free position in the second to make it a 6-3 contest with 26:33 remaining. However, they would get no closer as Adelphi ran off seven straight goals to end the game, with Keesling's final tally coming with 2:00 on the clock.

#2 seeds Le Moyne defeated #3 Bentley, 18-11, in the other semifinal on Motamed Field on Saturday to set up a championship showdown with the Panthers at 1 pm on Sunday.
