Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women's Lacrosse Records Second NE-10 Championship Three-Peat; Upends Le Moyne 13-6

Garden City, N.Y. – For the fifth time in the past six years, the Adelphi University and Le Moyne College women's lacrosse teams met in the Northeast-10 Conference Championship. And for the fourth time the Panthers came out on top, 13-6, thanks in large part to a 5-0 streak midway through the second half.

The championship is the sixth in program history and three straight for the Brown and Gold (19-0), the second three-peat since 2010. Emily Keesling led the offensive effort with six points behind four assists and two goals. Meanwhile, Ryley Weber was named the Most Outstanding Player that included three ground balls, two draw controls, and two caused turnovers this afternoon.

Jacqueline Pardee registered the first goal of the game, giving the Dolphins (17-2) an early 1-0 advantage just over a minute into the contest. However, three unassisted strikes from the Brown and Gold in a 12-minute period sparked a 3-1 lead. Michele Scannell scored two minutes after Pardee's strike followed by Rachel Aitkens and Rachel O'Brien adding tallies.

The fourth unassisted goal of the half came off the stick of Le Moyne's Byranna Fazio to cut the deficit to 3-2 with 13:34 remaining. Another unanswered streak led Adelphi into the half with 5-2 margin as O'Brien added her second unassisted goal followed by Keesling feeding Kate Beier three minutes before the break.

Despite the lead for the Panthers, the Dolphins held an 8-7 shot advantage during the first 30 minutes while each team picked up 10 ground balls. Adelphi went 7-for-8 on clears compared to a 3-for-8 showing from Le Moyne. Taylor Hayes made three stops to keep the lead in favor of Adelphi.

Following the break, the Dolphins matched the Brown and Gold end to the first half with two goals to start the second half. Monnat scored her 40th of the season before Molly McGuane registered a man-up strike to cut the Adelphi lead to 5-4.

After alternating goals that had the score at 6-5 in favor of Adelphi, the Panthers strung together five straight goals that came from five different individuals. Scannell started the streak followed by Jacqueline Jahelka, Beier, Danielle Montano, and Keesling. Keesling's goal gave Adelphi an 11-5 lead with 5:08 left in regulation.

Monnat ended the streak before Jahelka and Keesling added a goal each to create the final score of 13-6.

Joining Weber on the All-Championship team was Beier and Kaitlyn Stackpole along with Bryanna Fazio and Kayla Szczesniak from Le Moyne. New Haven's Meredith Michael and Hannah Lindgran from Bentley were also included on the team.

Both teams now await the NCAA Selection Show this evening, scheduled to air at 8:00 pm on NCAA.com.

- The Panthers have won seven straight meetings against the Dolphins, dating back to 2013.
- Adelphi is 15-1 all-time in the NE-10 Championship Tournament.
