Adelphi took control from the opening draw as four individuals accounted for four goals in the first five minutes of action. The Panthers added five more in the next 15 minutes and notched their 10th goal of the half with 8:38 to play off the stick of
Michele Scannell. The Brown and Gold found the back of the Purple Knight goal twice more in the final eight minutes to head into the intermission with a 12-0 lead, thanks in part to a
Danielle Montano tally with just 12 seconds left in the half.
The action settled down in the second half and Adelphi scored just three times in the first 20 minutes of play. However, the visitors continued to apply pressure and broke through with 10:35 left in the action courtesy of a Steph Bonewald free position goal to make it 15-1. The Panthers responded with the final goal of the contest thanks to
Kateri Brooks, who swept from left to right and beat Grace Gunning, who made 11 saves in the loss, for the 16th goal.
The Brown and Gold return to the field on Tuesday, March 22 in North Easton, Mass. on the campus of Stonehill College. Game time is set for 7:00 pm.
