Lynn Rallies Past Baseball In The Ninth, 5-4

Boca Raton, Fla. - Two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning led Lynn University to a 5-4 victory against the Adelphi University baseball team earlier this afternoon.

Going into the ninth with a 4-3 deficit, the Fighting Knights (15-9) tallied two runs in the bottom of the ninth with the bases loaded to come out victorious. The tying run was scored on a hit-by-pitch followed by a RBI single up the middle from Miguel Ceballos.

Adelphi (7-7) jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first half inning that began with a leadoff single from Kory Cassara. After Michael Stack walked, Brett Malm drove both runners in with a double down the left field line. The Panther pitching staff held Lynn off the board until the fifth inning when the Fighting Knights tied the score. Ceballos started the inning off with a homerun to right center followed by John Silviano nothcing a RBI single to tie the game.

Both teams scored a run in the seventh as Brandon Morse scored on a wild pitch before John Borup also scored on a wild pitch for Lynn to once again tie the game. However, the Panthers took the advantage right back in the eighth. Stack scored his second run of the game and the go-ahead tally on an Eric Hassell sacrifice fly after leading off the inning with a walk.

Michael Tarpey recorded an out in the eighth and two outs in the ninth before the Knights scored both runs to claim victory. Silviano and Ceballos both registered three hits for the Knights in the winning effort as Lynn tallied 11 hits.

Malm led the Panthers with two RBI on a 2-for-3 day, two of the team's four total hits on the afternoon. Meanwhile, Michael Stack scored two runs after picking up two walks. Steven Kuhn kept the Brown and Gold ahead during the seventh and eighth inning with 1.2 innings pitched, surrendering no runs and striking out one. Additionally, Matthew O'Connor started the game with four innings and striking out two.

The two programs meet again on Friday for a 3:00 pm first pitch to conclude a quick two-game series at the Lynn University Baseball Field.
