Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University volleyball team celebrated senior day on Saturday, October 5 with a, 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-15) sweep of Northeast-10 opponent Saint Anselm College (19-5, 9-2 NE-10).
Adelphi's (17-10, 8-4 NE-10) offensive effort was led by
Melissa Rigo and
Mandy Stanislovaitis who totaled 12 and 11 kills each, while
Megan Manierski had a team-high 22 assists. Stanislovaitis completed her double-double with 15 digs, and
Sierra Crook chipped in 14.
The Panthers used an 8-1 run in the first set to turn a, 3-3 tie into a, 11-4 lead, thanks in part to back-to-back service aces by Rigo. Adelphi remained in control throughout the opening frame, cruising to a 25-19 victory, capped by a
Madison Canestrari kill.
The Brown and Gold held a slight lead towards the end of the second set, 18-15, but out scored the Hawks 7-3 the rest of the way to take a two games to none lead in the match with a 25-18 win. In the third set, Adelphi used another run, this one a 7-1 spurt, to take control of the game and the match 15-9, including getting two kills from Rigo. Saint Anselm could get no closer then four points, with the Panthers ultimately winning, 25-15.

Adelphi takes the court again on Friday, November 11 when they travel to New Hampshire for a 7:00 pm meeting with Franklin Pierce.
Notes:
- With her 12 kills today,
Melissa Rigo entered the top-five single season kills list with 385 and is just five kills out of fourth and 11 out of third.

Sierra Crook continues to reach individual milestones and is the first player in program history over 2,200 career digs with 2,205.
- With today's victory Adelphi is now 10-1 all-time against Saint Anselm and have a combined 19-3 record against their final two opponents, Franklin Pierce (9-3) and Southern New Hampshire (10-0).
