Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Falls To Stonehill, 1-0, In NE-10 Championship Semifinal

Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University women's soccer team was unable to rebound from a 1-0 deficit for a second straight game as visiting Stonehill earned the decision during the Northeast-10 Conference Championship Semifinal earlier this evening on Motamed Field.

A goal int he 33rd minute for the Skyhawks (14-5-1) proved to be the difference in tonight's outcome. A ball passed the Adelphi (15-3-1) defense found the feet of Nicole Geraghty who was able to put a right foot on the strike and place a goal inside the left post and outside the reach of Anne Marie Ulliac.

Despite the setback, the Brown and Gold created a 26-8 shot advantage that included a 16-2 differential in the second half. Among the opportunities was a Morgan Santoro free kick attempt that hit the crossbar during the 81st minute followed by Cady Houghton header that was stopped at the goal line by the Stonehill defense. Furthermore, Jamie Block stopped seven attempts in addition to two team saves for the Skyhawks.

Santoro led the Panthers with 11 shots on the evening, including four on-target while Ulliac made two saves to keep Adelphi within striking distance. The Panthers also held a 8- corner kick advantage.

The Brown and Gold now await Monday's NCAA Selection Show, airing at 6:00 pm on NCAA.com.

Notes:
- The Panthers were ranked second in the latest NCAA East Region poll released on Wednesday.
- Earlier today, eight individuals were named to the All-Conference list that included Santoro being named NE-10 Player of the Year.
