Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Adelphi Athletics

Men's Basketball Silences the Knights, 108-78

Garden City, N.Y. – A total of 50-plus points in each half helped give the Adelphi University men's basketball team enough of a cushion to roll to a 108-78 victory over the visiting Queens College Knights on Sunday afternoon inside the Center for Recreation and Sport.

Four of Adelphi's (5-1) five starters scored in double figures to pace the victory, with Manny Suarez scoring a team-high 24 to go along with 12 rebounds for his third double-double of the season. Michael Coffey scored 21 to go along with three assists and three steals, while Austin Beech chipped in a career-high 18 points off the bench. Conor McGuinness scored a career-high 17 points and dished out 10 assists, while Jack Laffey added 12. Tyree White scored a game-high 25 points in the loss for Queens (3-3).

In what was a tight contest early, Queens' last lead came at 23-22 with 9:19 remaining in the first half. The Panthers' offense exploded for a 19-0 run over the next four minutes of action to create a two-figure cushion and break the half open, and held a 10-point lead at the break following two Knight buckets.

While the Knights cut the deficit to single figures in the early going in the second half, they were unable to close to a gap less than eight in the second 20 minutes. A Suarez triple got the Panthers to a 30-point margin, 95-65 with 6:05 to play, and a fast break layup from Nick Cambio pushed the Brown and Gold over the century mark with 4:06 to go en route to the win.

The Panthers are back in action on Tuesday, Nov. 29 when they travel to Salem, W. Va. for a 4 pm non-conference tilt with Salem International.
