Garden City, N.Y. – After two overtime periods, the Adelphi University men's basketball team was able to clinch a 73-64 Northeast-10 Conference win against Pace after outscoring the Setters 12-3 in the second overtime session.
In the final five minutes, the Panthers scored the first seven points of the second overtime to help the winning cause.

An opening 5-0 lead for Adelphi quickly turned into a 7-5 advantage for Pace in the early moments of the contest, setting a trend for the rest of the half as neither team was able to build a lead larger than four from that point. The Panthers held that margin twice after a Ginyard 3-pointer made it 13-9 followed later by a DeNicola layup to create a 22-18 lead. However, a 7-0 run to end the half gave the Setters a 25-22 halftime.
Kyle Pearson led all scorers with 11 points for the visitors to go along with six points, shooting 5-for-8 from the field. Meanwhile, DeNicola notched six points and five rebounds for the Brown and Gold.
Another quick start in the second half opened up a 32-29 lead for Adelphi after a 10-4 run was capped off by a jumper from Libroia less than four minutes in. In the later stages of regulation, leading again by three points, the Panthers saw their equalized on a 3-pointer from Ryan Peterson with 2:48 left. The score remained tied at 51-51 for the final minutes as neither team was able to convert.
Jumping ahead by five points after a DeNicola jumper in the first overtime, another Brown and Gold lead was erased by the Setters as a 3-pointer from Kyle Pearson brought Pace within two points followed by Shelton Mickell tying the game with four seconds left in the first session with a trey of his own.
Looking to not play another five minutes of extra basketball, Adelphi outscored Pace 12-3 in the second overtime to secure the win. Despite the loss, Pace outrebounded the Panthers 58-42 that helped create a 20-0 advantage in second chance points. However, the Brown and Gold outscored their opponents by 15 from beyond the arc and eight from the charity stripe to aid the win.
Adelphi quickly returns to action on Monday, traveling to Wilmington, Delaware to face Goldey-Beacom at 7:00 pm in non-conference action.
