Men's Soccer Scores Three In First Half Towards 3-1 Win At Assumption

Worcester, Mass – Three first half goals was enough for the Adelphi University men's soccer team on the road this evening to earn a 3-1 Northeast-10 Conference victory at Assumption.

The first strike came within the first 10 minutes of the contest as Caelan Hueber drove in an unassisted tally from the right side. With more time off the clock, Hueber was able to find the back of the net again with another unassisted strike in the 32nd minute to put the Brown and Gold up 2-0 on the heels of a rip into the left side.

Shortly after the second strike from Hueber, Adelphi was able to increase the lead to 3-0 before the half.  Jacob Johansson crossed a ball along the end line that found Shane McLaughlin for the third goal of the period. The three goals were a part of a 10-3 shot advantage in the first half for the Panthers. Dana King stopped five shots for the Greyhounds.

The Panthers were able to again have the shot advantage, however, only slight at 5-4 in the in the second period with neither team creating a corner kick. Assumption attempted the comeback late in the half as Ethan Morrow stepped up to drive home a penalty kick after a yellow card on Alejandro Penzini. However, the lead proved to be enough as the Brown and Gold held on for the 3-1 road victory.

Adelphi returns home returns home this Saturday for a 1:00 pm matchup on Motamed Field as the Purple Knights of Saint Michael's travel to Garden City.
