Volleyball Drops 3-1 Decision To Wisconsin-Parkside On Final Day Of Northwest Trip

Monmouth, Ore. – After rallying from a 2-0 deficit last night, the Adelphi University women's volleyball team was unable to get past Wisconsin-Parkside today, falling 3-1 in the final match of the Western Oregon Tournament.

Mandy Stanislovaitis once again led the Panthers (5-3) with 15 kills behind a .382 hitting percentage. Meanwhile, Megan Manierski provided 30 assists and 11 digs with Sierra Crook adding 15 digs. McKenna Clawson swung for 12 kills to go along with nine digs and two block assists.

A kill from Stanislovaitis helped push the Panthers up 16-13 in the middle of the first set before a Rangers's run and kill from Lexi Calloway took over the lead at 18-17. Both teams kept it close until Wisconsin-Parkside converted back-to-back kills to end the game at 27-25.

The use of a 6-1 run in the second game turned an 8-8 score into a 14-9 lead for the Panthers as Clawson and Bailey Riedel capped off the spurt with straight kills. Despite an ace from Lexi Turek to help the Rangers claim the lead at 21-20, five of the next six points went in favor of the Brown and Gold to win the set 25-22 as Manierski found Stanislovaitis for the clinching point.

The Rangers continuously built an advantage in the third to eventually take a 25-10 win, the largest lead at any point in the match. Wisconsin-Parkside scored six of the first seven points before several mini runs helped close out the win and take a 2-1 match lead.

Another quick and strong start afforded the Rangers a 10-1 lead that led to a closing out of the set of 25-9, taking the match 2-1. The Panthers fought to get back within nine at 15-6 with a Stephanie Sokolich kill, however, the already created deficit was too much to overcome.

Back in New York this upcoming week, the Brown and Gold travel to Long Island rival Dowling on Wednesday for a 7:00 pm match.
