Manchester, N.H. – Two first half goals helped the Adelphi University open up with Northeast-10 Conference schedule with a 2-0 win at Saint Anselm earlier this afternoon.
The Panthers (2-2/1-0 NE-10) jumped out to an early lead as
Samantha Lanza converted a through ball up the middle from Morgan Santarro to beat the keeper. More than 20 minutes later, the Brown and Gold extended their lead to 2-0 as Santarro was once again involved.
Olivia Czavar found the forward inside the box to increase the advantage during the 30th minute.
At the end of the first half, Adelphi controlled a slight 9-7 lead in shots against the host Hawks (1-2-1/0-1 NE-10). However, both teams were even in corners, 2-2, as well as saves made, 4-4.
The Brown and Gold continued to keep the pressure on in the second period, finishing the half with an 11-4 shot advantage despite not converting. However, the lead proved to be enough as
Anne Marie Ulliac made two more saves to finish the game with six. On the offensive side, 11 individuals registered a shot with
Jeanine Nunez and
Laura Gomez leading the effort with three shots a piece.
The Panthers make their home debut on Wednesday as they welcome New Haven for a 7:00 pm start time on Motamed Field. The match is the first of three straight home contests for the Brown and Gold.
