Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Volleyball Suffers First Loss At Western Oregon 3-1

Monmouth, Ore. – Adelphi University women's volleyball suffered its first loss of the early campaign earlier today with a 3-1 (24-26, 25-23, 19-25, 18-25) setback to Western Oregon. The match was the first of four on this Pacific Northwest trip, hosted by the Wolves.

The host Wolves rallied early to take the lead in the first set, however, a few plays at the net from Shelby Stoner helped the Panthers even the game at 16-16. After the game was tied again at 23-23, Western Oregon scored three of the final four points to open up the match 1-0.

Another tight contest in the second set, the Brown and Gold used some offense at the net to earn the 25-23 victory. McKenna Clawson put down the final kill to close the win, one of her three in the set while Stanislovaitis recorded six kills on nine attempts in the set.

After jumping out to a 12-5 lead in the third set, the Wolves managed to hold off mini runs by the Panthers to earn a 25-19 win. Adelphi got within 23-19, however, Western Oregon connected for the next two points and take a 2-1 match lead.

Western Oregon again managed to create an early lead in the fourth set, scoring the first four points. That advantage helped to keep the Wolves out in front as the Panthers rallied in the late stages to pull within two at 19-17. However, a 6-1 end to the game helped the host close out the set and match.

The Brown and Gold return to action on Friday with two matches back on the campus of Western Oregon. The Panthers are scheduled to face Concordia (Ore.) at 3:00 pm Eastern Time/12:00 pm Pacific Time followed by an 8:00 pm Eastern Time/5:00 pm Pacific Time start against Notre Dame De Namur.
