Manchester, NH - The Adelphi University softball team played its way through the East 1 Regional to advance to the 2015 East Super Regional to face Northeast-10 Conference member Southern New Hampshire in a three-game series starting Friday, May 15 at 2:00 p.m.
The teams last met on May 2 in the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament Championship and was the only date they teams have challenged each other this season. Adelphi holds a 6-4 all-time record against the Penmen, despite losing 6-0 in the title game.Â
For the second time in three seasons under the direction of Head Coach Bree Nasti the Panthers will return to the Super Regional stage. The squad advanced after knocking off Wilmington University and Caldwell University (three times) in the East 1 Regional. Offensively, Adelphi is led by freshman Brenna Martini, a Daktronics/Division II CCA East Region First Team selection and the Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Year who is batting .397 with eight home runs, 46 RBIs 16 doubles and a .709 slugging percentage. Krista King, a Northeast-10 All-Rookie selection is batting .371 with 65 his. 39 runs and 14 stolen bases. In the circle for Adelphi, Lindsay Mapes posts a 2.60 ERA in 183.1 innings pitched with 144 strikeouts, holding batters to a .222 average. This is the first time in program history that Southern New Hampshire heads to the Suer Regional, after capturing the NCAA East II Regional at Penmen Field last weekend, defeating Saint Anselm and LIU Post. The Penmen stand at 35-7 overall, which established program-record for wins in a season. Senior Ali Maloof was recently named Daktronics/Division II CCA East Region Player and Pitcher of the year, has a 24-2 record in the circle thus far and a .400 average at the plate.
