Garden City, NY - The Adelphi University baseball team scored at least one run in the first five innings to claim a 12-0 non-conference win against visiting Caldwell earlier today.
Alex Zykoff, Zach Levinson, and
Steven Withers eached notched three hits each to help make up 19 of the team's htis on the day. Zykoff added five RBI while
Ray Triano drove in two runs to go along with his two hits and two runs scored. Meanwhile, Levinson scored a team-high three runs.
The Panther (17-17) pitching staff comprised of six pitchers on the day, including three strikeouts each from starter
Michael Ceparano as well as
Kyle Garrison and
David Butler.
John Bivas and
Will Hickey did not allow a hit in the final two innings.
After Triano doubled down the left field line with one out,
Nick Zito drove him in in the next at-bat for the first run of the game. Zkyoff tallied his first RBI of the game in the inning as well, driving in Zito with sacrifice fly. The Brown and Gold added another run in the second on three hits with Triano picking up the sacrifice fly to score Levinson.
The offensive momentum continued into the third with four runs, started by an RBI triple from Zykoff to score
Robert Vani. Zkyoff scored right away as
John Fogarty picked up the sacrifice in the next turn at-bat. Levinson scored the next run on a walk to
Kory Cassara with the bases loaded. Withers added the fourth and final run by scoring with the bases still loaded on error in the infield.
Adelphi scored for the fourth straight inning on a Cambria RBI double in the fourth to score Fogarty. In the fifth, three hits brought in three more runs as Zkyoff picked up all three RBI with a bases clearing double to center. Withers posted a RBI double in the eighth to score Levinson for the final tally of the contest.
The Panthers close out the regular season with a three-game weekend series with Saint Rose this weekend. Game one is scheduled for 3:30 pm on Friday followed by a noon doubleheader on Saturday.
