Baseball Splits With Felician At MCU Park

Brooklyn, NY - Taking the opportuninty to play in a professional park, the Adephi University baseball team split today's doubleheader at MCU Park against Felician this afternoon by winning the opener 8-3 before falling 5-2 in seven innings in the nightcap.

Nine different individuals registered a hit on the day for the Panthers while John Fogarty racked up three RBI and added two stolen bases. Meanwhile, Robert Vani scored three runs with Nick Zito adding two.

Felician jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in game one, scoring on a double play after two hits. In the second, the Brown and Gold evened the score at 1-1 with Fogarty picking up a sacrifice fly to score Vani.

Adelphi added two runs in the fourth and fifth innings to take a 5-1 lead. Michael Stack matched Fogarty with a RBI on a sacrfice fly in the fourth while Donato Signore scored in the fourth and followed up with a RBI in the fifth.

After Felician scored two runs in the seventh to cut the Adelphi lead to 5-3, the Panthers added insurance in the top of the ninth with three runs on just one hit. Zito picked up an RBI followed by scoring on a wild pitch.

In game two, after five scoreless innings, Felician again scored first with a run in the sixth inning on a wild pitch. The Panthers again quickly responded in the bottom half to take a 2-1 lead on Vani's RBI triple followed by a sacrifice fly from Tyler Murphy.

The lead was short for the Panthers however, as Felician scored four times in the seventh inning to pick up the 5-2 victory in the shortened, seven-inning second game.
