Pleasantville, N.Y. - The top ranked Adelphi University women's lacrosse team showcased its versatility in a, 20-2 Northeast-10 Conference victory over Pace University, with 13 different members of the Brown and Gold finding the back of the net. With the win Adelphi currently sits at a perfect, 13-0 overall and 10-0 in the conference, while the Setters fall to 4-9 and 2-8 in the NE-10.
Rachel O'Brien and
Emily Keesling led the potent Panther offense with five points each. O'Brien netted two goals and added three assists, while Keesling scored three time and handed out two helpers.
Jacqueline Jahelka had four points on two and two, while seven different players posted two points.
Six different players caused turnovers for Adelphi and
Felicia Mills controlled the draw, winning nine draw controls in addition to her one goal and one assist day on offense.
Kate Beier led the team with three ground balls and
Taylor Hayes picked up her 13th win of the season, making three stops in 42 minutes of action.
The Panthers controlled the action from the start, scoring just 2:22 into the game courtesy of an
Alexa Froccaro tally. That launched a nine goal barrage that ended with back-to-back goals from O'Brien, the second coming with 2:13 left and giving Adelphi a 9-0 edge. Pace and Adelphi would exchange goals in the final 1:21 of the first half, sending the contest into intermission with the Panthers ahead, 10-1.
The second stanza was more of the same, with the Brown and Gold ripping off 10 straight goals in a span of just over 23 minutes. The final tally of the game for Adelphi came off the stick of
Casey Zalewski, with 3:45 to play and gave the Panthers a 20-1 victory on the way to a 20-2 win.
The Brown and Gold return to action on Saturday, April 18 with a 4:00 pm contest at home against Stonehill College.
