Garden City, NY – Twelve first half goals helped lead the top ranked Adelphi University women's lacrosse team to a 15-5 win against Northeast-10 Conference rival and sixth ranked Stonehill this afternoon on Motamed Field.
On her senior day,
Alexa Froccaro put forth six points behind four goals and two assists while sophomore
Jacqueline Jahelka scored five goals that included going 2-for-3 on a free position shots.
Rachel O'Brien netted four assists to go along with five goals while
Taylor Hayes came up with five saves, all in the second half.
The Panthers (14-0/11-0 NE-10) started out with nine unanswered goals in the first 18 minutes of play before both squads traded goals for the remaining time, giving Adelphi a 12-3 lead at the half. Froccaro scored three of the first nine goals before finishing the half with all six of her points of the game. O'Brien also dished out all four of her assists in the stanza to go along with the lone goal while Jahelka struck three times.
Additionally in the opening period, the Brown and Gold held advantages in shots, 17-4 and ground balls, 11-3.
Taylor Langston made the lone save of the half for the Panthers, playing nearly 28 minutes. Elizabeth Vetter scored two of the three goals for the Skyhawks (13-2/10-2 NE-10).
A more defensive second period, Hayes made five stops in net as Stonehill created eight shots. On the other end, Ashley Armstrong made three of her five saves in the period for the Skyhawks. Furthermore, Adelphi matched its total of groundballs in the second half to finish the game with 22.
Kaitlyn Stackpole led the group with four and
Ryley Weber added three.
Stonehill opened the low scoring half as Cassandra McGill cut the deficit for Stonehill 12-4 before the Panthers struck for three straight, including the final two from Jahelka. The Skyhawks scored the lone goal of the final 10 minutes with two minutes to go, however, Hayes held strong in the net to hold off any rally.

Stephanie Marran.
The Panthers' home finale is scheduled for 4:00 pm this Wednesday, hosting New Haven for a league tilt.
