Colchester, VT - Senior midfielder
Danielle Jaycox led the top ranked Adelphi University women's lacrosse team past Saint Michael's College, 15-3 with seven points on three goals and four assists on Saturday, March 21 in Vermont. With the win the Brown and Gold remain untarnished at 7-0 overall and 4-0 in the Northeast-10, while the Purple Knights fall to 0-4 overall and 0-3 in conference.
Emily Keesling contributed a career-high five points to the cause, thanks to three tallies and two assists, while
Jacqueline Jahelka (4G) and
Alexa Froccaro (3G) combined for seven goals.
Rachel O'Brien also had a strong game on offense, with one goal and two assists on the afternoon.
Kaitlyn Stackpole and Jahelka led the way on defense with four and three caused turnovers, while four other Panthers caused two Saint Michael's miscues.
Felicia Mills led the way in the circle with six draw controls, while Stackpole gobbled up six ground balls and
Lauren Janelli had four.
Taylor Hayes picked up her seventh win of the season in net, making three stops.
Saint Michael's opened the scoring, getting on the board just 69 seconds into the action, but Adelphi took control with a three goal run that ended with Keesling's first tally of the game at the 12:30 mark. The Purple Knights answered back with another goal, but a second Panther three goal spurt made the count, 6-2 on O'Brien's only goal of the contest with 1:32 left in the first half.
In the final 45 seconds of the first stanza, the purple Knights and Adelphi traded goals, sending the game into intermission with the score 7-3, in favor of the Panthers.
The second half was all Brown and Gold, thanks to the Adelphi defense holding the hosts scoreless, while posting eight goals of their own, giving the Panthers a 15-3 victory.
Adelphi outshot Saint Michael's 39-7, turned the ball over less, 15-27 and won more draws, 13-7.
The Panthers return to action on Wednesday, March 25, welcoming Bentley to Garden City for a 4:00 pm game on Motamed Field.
