Game One
Adelphi wasted no time in the top of the first inning as King led off with base hit to centerfield to be later brought in by Catalano who doubled down the right field line. Martini smacked her first home run of the game to take an early 3-0 lead over Georgian Court.
The Lions were quick to answer, scoring one in the bottom of the first on a couple of Panther miscues and stolen bases but were held to just one run for the remainder of the game. The Brown and Gold's best inning occurred in the top of the fourth as they tacked on seven more runs on seven hits and one Georgian Court error.
Martini picked up her second home run of the game, collecting three RBIs along the way.
Nicole Camera had the opportunity to contribute as she tripled to right, scoring
Megan Lewis, who had reached on an error. Adelphi scored three more runs before the home team was able to end the inning.
Lindsay Mapes held the Lions scoreless after their lone run in the first inning, holding them to four hits in 4.0 innings with four strikeouts to earn her first win in 2015.
Game 2
Adelphi and Georgian Court went through the first four innings scoreless in game two before the Panthers jumped on the board with two runs on one hit and one error in the top of the fifth, courtesy of Lewis. Coming back in the bottom of the sixth, the Lions scored two runs on three hits, by way of two singles and one double.
With the score locked at 2-2, Cutuli led off the seventh inning with a single to left field, advancing on a SAC bunt by King. Catalano gave Adelphi the lead, with a stroke of the bat, launching a ball over the left-centerfield fence, her second of the season. The Panther defense held strong, getting the first two outs before the Lions stranded a runner on base, as Dara Schroeder struck out swinging to complete the inning. Camera earned her first collegiate win as a result.
The Panthers are slated to return to action this weekend in doubleheader action on both Saturday and Sunday against Franklin Pierce and Southern New Hampshire. Due to inclement weather, location and game time may change. Check
