Le Moyne Pulls Away In Final Minutes Of 75-68 Win Versus Men's Basketball

Mahoney scored 19 of his points in the second half to help bring the Dolphins to victory.

Garden City, NY – After being on the road for their last Northeast-10 conference matchup, the Adelphi men's basketball team returned to action at the Center for Recreation and Sports, however, visiting Le Moyne came away with a 75-68 victory.

Damon Coleman and Anthony Libroia each scored 16 points and combined for nine assists to lead the Panthers (4-17/1-4 NE-10). Michael Coffey added 12 points while shooting 3-for-5 from beyond the arc.

Connor Mahoney scored 19 of his 24 points in the second half to help lift the Dolphins (14-8/8-7 NE-10) to victory. Mahoney also added seven rebounds as four others reached double-figures in the scoring column. Qwadere Lovell posted 12 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds.

A 3-pointer from Coffey opened the first half for the Panthers. The Dolphins battled for points early on, however, Adelphi settled into lead position after back-to-back threes by Coleman and Libroia for a 9-0 score at the 17:18 mark.

The Panthers continued to hold the lead for the remainder of the first half; however, Le Moyne was able to cut the lead to 32-29 heading into the break after a Stan Buczek layup.

Mahoney scored the first six points of the second half to put the Dolphins up 35-32 before Coffey hit a long-range shot to even the score at 35. The two teams played the rest of the half close, trading leads and tying the score on multiple occasions.

In the final four minutes, Le Moyne started to pull away as Russell Sangster gave the group an eight-point lead at 65-57 with Lovell picking up his seventh assist. Mahoney put the Dolphins back up by eight with a 1:01 remaining with a shot from beyond the arc that capped off his 19-point half and helped create a safe spread for the victory.

Adelphi is next in action Tuesday, February as American International travels to Garden City for a 7:30 pm NE-10 matchup.
