Pleasantville, NY – The No. 12 Adelphi University women's basketball team trailed the Pace University Setters at halftime, 30-40 but finished in overtime with a 82-72 decision. The win improves the Panthers to 24-3 overall and 17-2 in Northeast-10 conference play as the hosts fall to 12-15 and 6-13 in league play.
Leading Adelphi in the OT win was
Samantha Brenner who completed a double-double, accounting for 15 points and 11 rebounds as
Kelly Mannix contributed 14 and seven points and rebounds, respectively. Four other players found themselves in double-figures with

For the Setters, three players reached double-figures with recent 1,000 point scorer Margo Hackett leading the way with 29 points. Gabriella Rubin and Yuni Sher each contributed 16 points, despite the loss.
A slow start for both teams, the Setters held
only a 9-5 lead after the first four minutes of play. With under 10 to play in the first half, the Panthers came within two of the hosts on a quick Gomez lay-in to make the score 18-16. However, Hackett nailed a three-pointer with 2:21 remaining to give the hosts their largest lead of the half.
After trailing 40-30 at halftime, the Panthers managed to tie the game for the second time at 59 apiece with less than two minutes in the second half and then took the lead on back-to-back free throws by Brenner. The final minute featured two ties and one lead change, after a Balfour steal and lay-in gave the Panthers a 64-62 lead with 39 seconds left. Sher came out of the Pace timeout with a quick layup to conclude regulation and head into overtime.
In extra time, Adelphi jumped out to a 75-66 lead with contributions from Halaby and Gomez. Hackett, who shot 5-7 from three-point range, cut the Brown and Gold lead to six with just under a minute left in OT. Foul shots, coupled with a final Balfour steal sealed the deal for Adelphi, handing them an 82-72 victory.
