Men's Soccer Falls 1-0 In NE-10 Championship At Southern New Hampshire

Manchester, N.H. – A first half goal was all top-seeded Southern New Hampshire needed to upend the Adelphi University men's soccer team 1-0 earlier this afternoon in the Northeast-10 Conference Championship Final.

In the 18th minute, Sebastian Stezewski was able to dribble up the field to create for the Penmen. With that creation, Stezewski shot to the bottom left to beat Spenser Powell. Following the goal, Toni Soler nearly found the equalizer, however, his attempt went off the crossbar followed Federico De Oliveira forcing Nick Zucco to make a save two minutes later.

The Penmen outshot Adelphi 7-4 in the first half while also holding a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks. Zucco's save on De Oliveira was the lone stop of the opening half.
In the second half, Powell was forced to make four saves in the first 20 minutes to keep the score at 1-0. However, the Brown and Gold offense was unable to create any significant opportunities with a shot from Gabe Maurello in the 74th minute the only attempt to force a save from Zucco.

Southern New Hampshire finished the contest with the same number, 13, in both the corner kick and shot column. Powell finished his afternoon with those four saves to keep the Panthers in striking distance.

Both teams now await the announcement of the NCAA Tournament field tomorrow evening at 6:00 pm. The selection show can be streamed live on NCAA.com.
