New Haven, Conn. – Three second half goals helped push the Adelphi University women's soccer team to a 3-0 win at Southern Connecticut State earlier tonight in Northeast-10 Conference action.
In the first period, the Panthers created a 6-2 shot advantage, however, were unable to manufacture a goal in the first 45 minutes. Both of the Owls' attempts forced
Anne Marie Ulliac to make a pair of saves.
After not being able to finish in the first half, the Brown and Gold quickly found the back of the net in the second half. In the 51
st minute,
Morgan Santoro drove the opening goal inside the post after collecting a loose ball in the box.
Less than 10 minutes after Santoro's goal,
Taylor Salmon drove a free kick from approximately 30 yards away that was initially saved before finding its way past the line to give Adelphi a 2-0 advantage. Santoro again found the back of the net to make it 3-0 as
Brianna Doran found the midfielder in the center of the box.
Ulliac finished her evening with three saves while her counterpart, Erica Ridella, made four stops. Adelphi created 10 shots in the second half to end the evening with a 16-4 shot margin while also producing five corners while yielding two.
The Panthers are back on the road this Saturday for a 3:00 pm start time in Syracuse to face Le Moyne.
