Garden City, N.Y. – Two goals in each half helped the Adelphi University men's soccer team to a 4-1 victory at home against Northeast-10 Conference foe American International this evening.
A 17-1 shot advantage in the first half allowed the Panthers to head into halftime with a 2-0 lead after two goals in the final five minutes.
Toni Soler registered the first strike as the recently subbed in
Will Rezin created space on the left side of the pitch and found Soler in front of the net during the 41st minute. More than two minutes later,
Caelan Hueber finished a
Federico De Oliveira pass into the bottom right corner of the.
The Adelphi attack forced Sebastian Tamayo to make six saves for the Yellow Jackets in the first 45 minutes. On the opposite side, the lone American International attempt was stopped by
Sergio Reyes. The Brown and Gold also created two corner kicks while yielding zero.
The Yellow Jackets looked to quickly get back into the contest to start the second half as Alec Cerquiera dribbled up the right side and placed a deflected ball into the middle for Kyle Kazukynas in the 46th minute. However, the Panthers pushed the lead back to two with Rezin gain his second assist two minutes later with the setup of
Kenneth Indergard.
Indergard scored his second goal of the game in the 78th minute to help increase the lead to 4-1. Hueber flicked on a pass from Alenjandro Penzini that Indergard was able to dribble down the left of the box and convert on the inside right.
Adelphi finished the second half with a 5-3 shot advantage to end the game with a 22-4 margin. Nicholas Romei entered for the final 42 minutes for the Yellow Jackets to make one save while Reyes stopped one more shot to finish with two saves.
The Brown and Gold conclude wrap up the regular season with a 7:00 pm match versus Saint Rose on Motamed Field. Prior to the start of the game, the program will honor its graduating seniors.
