Antonino Scores Twice For #13 Women's Soccer In 2-0 Win At American International

Springfield, Mass. – Another individual standout performance helped lead the 13th ranked Adelphi University women's soccer team to its seventh straight victory with a 2-0 decision at Northeast-10 Conference rival American International earlier this evening.

After 28 minutes went by in the first, the Panthers struck for the first goal of the game as Kelsey Simpson found Victoria Antonino for her third goal of the season. The strike was the sixth shot attempt on the half for the Brown and Gold, creating a 6-1 shot advantage to that point.

Adelphi finished the first 45 minutes with a 9-1 shot margin that forced American International goalie Rachel Edgin to make one save. On the other side, the one shot by the Yellow Jackets went over the net to keep Anne Marie Ulliac on her toes.

The first shot of the second half result in a 2-0 lead for the Panthers as the Simpson to Antonino connection worked once again. Simpson tapped a pass into the box that Antonino was able to strike to the left side of the net from 10 yards away.

On the way to a seventh straight win and remaining unbeaten in the last 13 games, the Brown and Gold outshot the host 16-3 on the afternoon and created three corners while not yielding one. Edgin finished her 90 minutes with six saves while none of the three shots from American International forced Ulliac to make a stop.

The Panthers play the last regular season road match of the season on Wednesday with a 7:00 pm kickoff in Worcester, Mass. at Assumption.
