Kutztown, Penn. -- The Adelphi University bowling team closed out its first weekend of competition for the 2015-16 season with the Kutztown Team Invitational on Sunday, October 18 -- the second of two days of competition hosted by the Bears.
After going 5-0 on the first day in Baker play, the Panthers dropped their opening two matches against LIU Brookyn and St. Francis (Pa.). However, the Panthers rebounded by defeating Caldwell (895-823) and St. Francis Brooklyn (951-844) as
Laura Zaugg rolled a 245 individually to help the Panthers top the Terriers in the fourth match. In their final match of the weekend, the Panthers faced off against the Hornets of Delaware State and although they battled hard, came up just short by two pins (870-868) to end the weekend.
Despite going 2-3 on the second day, the Panthers posted the fourth-highest pinfall of the afternoon, placing behind St. Francis (Pa.), LIU Brooklyn and Delaware State. Overall over the two days, the Brown and Gold posted a 7-3 record.
The Panthers return to action in their next tournament over the weekend of October 30-November 1, the FDU New Jersey Jamboree hosted by Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Brunswick, N.J.
