Men's Soccer Draws 2-2 Decision At Franklin Pierce

Rindge, N.H. - A 1-0 advantage was erased in the second half before Adelphi University managed to even the game at 2-2 while playing at Franklin Pierce earlier today and force Northeast-10 Conference tie.

The recent play of James Thristino continued in the first half for the Panthers in the first half as the freshman afforded his team a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute. Shane McLaughlin set up the Rookie of the Week on a 2-on-1 with a empty net finish.

Adelphi finished the first half with that 1-0 advantage by also leading in shots 8-4. Both teams managed two corners while each goalkeeper made one stop in the first 45 minutes.

Within the first nine minutes of the second half, Franklin Pierce found the equalizer as Charlie Madden converted a penalty kick. Just a little more than 10 minutes later, the Ravens took the 2-1 lead on the heels of a Marius Preber strike. Preber one-timed a low cross from George Levantakis to give the host the advantage with 26 minutes remaining.

After falling victim to a penalty kick, the Panthers were awarded their own in the 74th minute after a Franklin Pierce foul. Alejandro Penzini netted his third goal of the season on the attempt and tied the score at 2-2.

Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the final 16 minutes as each team attempted two shots that included Jordan LeGuyader making two saves for the Ravens. Adelphi posted the only shot in the first overtime before taking a 3-2 shot advantage in the second extra period. However, LeGuyader again stepped up to make all three stops and preserve the tie.

Sergio Reyes played all 110 minutes for the Brown and Gold and finished with four saves. Adelphi ended the contest with a 16-11 shot advantage and slight 4-3 corner kick margin. LeGuyader wrapped up his afternoon with seven saves.

The Panthers return home this Saturday to host the third ranked Southern New Hampshire Penmen at 3:00 pm on Motamed Field.
