Pleasantville, N.Y. -- After a scoreless first half, two goals off the stick of
Kristen Bagley led the Adelphi University field hockey team to its sixth consecutive victory on the road at Pace University on Tuesday night.
Pace (3-9, 1-6 NE-10) held a 7-4 advantage in total shots in the opening half, keeping the pressure on Adelphi (9-3, 6-1 NE-10) goalie
Amanda Gargiulo and forcing the Northeast-10 Goalkeeper of the Week to make five saves. Lesley Sanchez Alvarez stopped two shots in net for the Setters, ensuring the two teams would play 35 minutes of scoreless field hockey.
However, in the second half, Adelphi's offense came alive, taking 10 total shots to the Setters' three and having seven penalty corner opportunities. Bagley, whose five shots in the game were all on goal, finally broke through at the 51:09 mark collecting her own rebound and scoring after her initial shot was stopped by Sanchez Alvarez. She doubled the score as the game came to a close, scoring off a right-side pass by
Lena Pollich in the 67th minute to send the Panthers home victorious.
Adelphi returns to action on Thursday, October 15, when they host Mercy in a 4 pm non-conference contest.
