Garden City, NY - Cross-town rival LIU Post defeated the Adelphi University men's soccer team 5-0 earlier this evening on Motamed Field in the final game of the Adelphi Alumni Invitational.
Senior forward Eivind Austboe had a hand in all five goals for the Pioneers (1-1) as he racked up four goals and an assist. Austboe get started quickly with a strike from just past midfield after the opening kickoff to put LIU Post up 1-0 just nine seconds into the contest. He also scored in the 13th minute on a diving header, set up on a direct kick from junior midfielder Matias Ruiz.
Austboe continued his performance in the second half by cleaning up a scramble in front of the night with his right foot during the 60th minute. Just a little more than two minutes later, he set up freshman forward Jason Lampkin for the fourth goal of the contest. Ruiz found Austboe again on a corner kick in the 67th minute for the fifth and final tally of the game.

Prior to the start of this evening's contest, the 1974 men's soccer National Championship was recognized by Director of Athletics and Recreation
Danny McCabe with a pregame ceremony to honor the 40th anniversary of their championship. Additionally, Southern Connecticut defeated Mercy 4-1 in the first game of the evening after a delayed start due to local storms.
Looking ahead, Adelphi travels to nearby Rockville Centre to face non-conference foe Molloy next Saturday, September 13 for a 7:00 pm contest.
