Diego Zuniga scored two goals, including the game-winner, during tonight's 2-1 double overtime victory at American International College.
The Panthers (3-1/1-0 NE-10) open the Northeast-10 Conference schedule with a victory as Zuniga scored once in the first half followed by the game-winner. Freshman midfielder
Federico De Oliveira picked up the assist on the overtime goal while senior keeper Ahmad Salameh made four saves. Adelphi owned a 32-10 shot advantage as well as a 14-3 lead in corner kicks.
Sophomore goalkeeper Sebastian Tamayo picked up 11 saves for the Yellow Jackets (3-2/0-1 NE-10) while junior midfielder Kyle Kazukynas registered the tying goal late in regulation.
Zuniga gave the Panthers the early 1-0 advantage during the 11th minute with his second goal of the season. The Brown and Gold held the lead for nearly 76 minutes when Kazukynas put in the equalizer for the Yellow Jackets with a 30-yard shot from left side to the far post.
After the first overtime went scoreless, Zuniga struck again with the game-winner in the 102nd minute. De Oliveira fed Zuniga on the run through the left side with the forward scoring on the bottom right half of the net.
The Panthers return to action this Saturday when they host Stonehill for a 3:00 pm match on Motamed Field.
