Rob Grella Steps Down as Head Women's Lacrosse Coach

Garden City, N.Y. – Head women's lacrosse coach, Rob Grella, has announced his decision to resign from his position. A nationwide search to fill the position of head women's lacrosse coach will begin immediately.

"After careful consideration and discussion with my family, I have decided to step down as the head women's lacrosse coach at Adelphi University," said Grella. "I've done so to pursue other opportunities closer to my home in New Jersey so I can watch my kids grow up. I'd like to thank Adelphi for their support over the past three years."

Grella took over the women's lacrosse program in July of 2011 and the Panthers made three straight trips to the NCAA Division II Tournament. They also advanced to the Final Four in 2013 and captured the squad's sixth NCAA Division II National Championship in 2014.

During his tenure, Adelphi produced 27 Northeast-10 All-Conference honorees, 17 IWLCA All-Region award winners and 10 IWLCA All-Americans. The Brown and Gold also garnered major awards during the past three years, including two Northeast-10 Rookie of The Year nods, two Northeast-10 Defensive Player of The Year awards, two Northeast-10 Tournament MVP honors, and Player and Goalie of the Year selections, along with the program's second Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-American.
