Box Score Garden City, N.Y. - Georgian Court scored nine unasnwered runs to defeat the Adelphi University softball team 9-2 in today's elimination game of the NCAA East 2 Regional hosted by the Panthers at Janet L. Ficke Field.
After the Panthers claimed an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, the Lions scored three runs in the bottom half followed by six more runs throughout the final six innings to move onto game five of the NCAA East 2 Regional versus Queens. In the process, the Brown and Gold were knocked out of the bracket.

Jaclyn Binstock went 3-for-4 on the day for the Panthers while senior pitcher
Katie Andrews notched an RBI and a run.
For Georgian Court, senior infielder Justine Mattia drove in four runs while fellow senior infielder Briana Molino went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. After surrendering two runs in the first, senior pitcher Tina Morgan went on to pitch the complete game by scattering eight hits and two strikeouts.
Andrews drove in the first of two runs for the Panthers in the opening inning with a double to deep center field to plate junior infielder
Victoria Wink. Andrews then scored on an error in the outfield to put Adelphi up 2-0.
Small ball helped Georgian Court capture a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the first, as Molino bunted in a run and Mattia plated two runs after successful early bunts by the Lions. Freshman outfielder Taylor Boltersdorf scored a run in the second to increase the lead to 4-2.
The Lions continued to increase their lead with five runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Mattia drove in two more runs with a single down the left field line followed and later scored to make it 7-2 Georgian Court after five innings. Molino plated two more runners in the sixth that proved to be the final tallies.
Georgian Court now goes on to meet Queens, who fell earlier today to Caldwell, at 5:00 pm. The winner will face Caldwell tomorrow at 12:00 pm. With a win, the Cougars move on to the East Super Regional. However, if the winner of Georgian Court and Queens defeats Caldwell twice, that team will be the representative in the East Super Regional.
