Garden City, N.Y. – Its three straight victories for the Adelphi University softball team after today's non-conference doubleheader sweep at Post. With the wins, the Panthers move to 17-11 while the Eagles slip to 16-15.

Sophomore infielder Jordan Catalano racked up five hits and three RBI on the day while junior infielder Victoria Wink and freshman outfielder Niki Barbato also totaled three RBI. Freshman pitcher Lindsay Mapes started both games, earning a victory in 8.0 innings pitched with nine strikeouts.

The host Eagles grabbed an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first before the Panthers jumped in front 3-2 during the third inning. Wink drove in all three runs with her fifth homerun of the season. Post went on to tie the game in the bottom half of third and eventually grabbed a lead of 4-3 in the bottom of the sixth.

With the last chance of forcing a tie or taking the lead, Adelphi produced a bases loaded opportunity for Catalano with two outs. The sophomore took full advantage, driving a single to left field and scoring two runs to afford her team a 5-4 lead. Andrews forced a game-ending double play to give the opener to the visitors.

In the second game, the Panthers were looking to avoid another close game by putting seven runs on the board in the first half inning. Barbato kicked off the stretch with a two-RBI, single followed by three straight RBI singles and two more runs on a Post error.

Adelphi tacked on another run in the second after the Eagles cut into the lead with two, making the score 8-2 after two. Post again made a dent in the gap with four runs in the bottom of the fourth. However, Andrews settled down and shutout the final three innings.

The Brown and Gold are quickly back in action tomorrow with the series finale versus Le Moyne starting at 3:00 pm. The game will be played on the New Haven campus in West Haven, CT.
