#2 Men's Lacrosse Slays the Golden Knights, 16-4

The Panthers got goals from 10 different players in the victory.

Box Score Garden City, N.Y. - The second ranked Adelphi University men's lacrosse team out scored visiting Saint Rose, 7-1 in the third quarter, powering away from the Golden Knights for a 16-4 victory on Motamed Field, tonight, April 1. With the win the Panthers remain unbeaten at 9-0 overall and 6-0 in Northeast-10 Conference play, while the College of Saint Rose falls to 1-8 and 1-5 in conference action.

Nick Watson and Salvatore Tuttle led the Adelphi attack with four points each, Watson on three goals and an assist and Tuttle on two goals and two helpers. Tyler Felice Jennings, Joe Celano, and Cory Stavis, had two goals each in the win, while Ikerson Hopper had one goal and one assist.

Gregory Puskuldjian helped Adelphi control the pace of play, winning 18 of 23 face-offs taken and collecting a game-high 14 ground balls. Felice Jennings and Aidan Bennardo grabbed four and three ground balls in the win, while Bennardo made seven stops in the first half to pick up his ninth win of the season.

The Panthers came out of the locker room roaring, scoring the first three goals of the game and holding, a 3-1 lead at the end of 15 minutes on the back of goals from Jamie McAndrew, Celano and Felice Jennings. Adelphi really hit their stride in the second quarter, putting the game away with a 6-0 run that started just 11 seconds into the frame on a Watson unassisted effort and put the Brown and Gold ahead, 9-1 with 6:03 left in the second quarter. It also featured a four-goal run that lasted 35 seconds, from 6:38-6:03, courtesy of Celano, Watson and Puskuldjian.

Adelphi put further distance between themselves and the visitors, sandwiching two goals on either side of a Golden Knight tally, and entering the final 15 minutes of action with a comfortable 14-3 edge. Tallies from Stavis and Eddie Desiderio pushed the Panthers to a 16-4 victory. The Brown and Gold out shot Saint Rose, 50-27, almost double up the visitors in ground balls, 43-22 and won more face-offs, 18-5.

Adelphi returns to action on Saturday, April 5 when they travel to Syracuse, New York to take part in a battle of the top-two teams in Division II, stepping on the field against LeMoyne at 3:00 pm.
