Tuttle, Watson Power #2 Men's Lacrosse Past AIC, 19-6

Box Score Garden City, N.Y. - The second ranked Adelphi University men's lacrosse team invited American International College (AIC) to Motamed Field on Tuesday, March 18 in a Northeast-10 Conference contest. The Panthers used a 15 goal first half to power past the Yellowjackets, 19-6. With the win, Adelphi improves to 5-0 overall and 1-0 in the conference, while AIC remains winless at 0-7 overall and 0-3 in the NE-10.

Nick Watson and Salvatore Tuttle led the Panthers offense with seven points each, Watson on six goals and one assist and Tuttle on four goals and three helpers. Stephen Beckwith and Cory Stavis handed out two assists each, while Nathan Serviss and Brandon Goodwin also reached double figures with one goal and one assist each. Nine other Panthers posted one point each in the win, eight with goals, giving the Brown and Gold 11 different goal scorers.

Defensively, Adelphi was paced by Nick Watson and Joe Giardina, who caused two turnovers each, while Watson led all players with nine ground balls. Gregory Puskuldjian collected six ground balls and won 12 of 17 face-offs that he took. Adian Bennardo made three stops, while picking up his fifth victory of the season.

The Panthers got on the board just two minutes into the first frame with a tally from Watson, one of his four goals in the first quarter. AIC responded with a goal of their own 58 seconds later, but Adelphi out scored the Yellowjackets 6-1 over the following 12 minutes, claiming a 7-2 edge after just 15 minutes of action.

The second quarter was more of the same, with the Brown and Gold hanging eight goals on the board to just one for the Yellowjackets, giving the home team an insurmountable, 15-3 lead at halftime. Adelphi got two goals each from Watson and Tuttle in the second frame. The Panthers would continue to keep the pressure on, outscoring AIC, 4-3 in the second half to secure a 19-6 victory.

Adelphi held an impressive, 53-21 edge in shots, 31-11 advantage in shots on goal, and almost double upped the Yellowjackets total of 36 ground balls with 59 of their own.
